Communication and language support
We want every child, young person and family to be able to understand information about their care and communicate with the people supporting them. If a family needs information in another language, or support to communicate with our teams, we will work with them to understand what they need and how we can help.
Translation and language support
Our teams can arrange language support when it is needed, including translation of information into other languages. We can also work alongside families and other healthcare professionals to help make information about care as clear and accessible as possible.
Our cultural link worker can support families where language or cultural differences may create barriers to communication, and help make sure needs, wishes and beliefs are understood.
Other communication needs
We know that people communicate and understand information in different ways. Our teams use a range of approaches to help children and young people communicate and have a voice, including Makaton where appropriate.
If a child, young person or family member has particular communication or accessibility needs, please let our team know so we can understand how best to support them.
