Specialist advice, day or night

Our Single Point of Contact (SPOC) service provides 24/7 specialist telephone advice and support for healthcare professionals caring for a baby, child or young person aged 0 to 18 who is deteriorating or approaching the end of their life and has palliative care needs.

Who can use this service

SPOC is available to healthcare professionals across the East Midlands, including GPs, hospital teams, community services and NHS 111 out-of-hours services.

If you need advice, call 01509 638 000. A call handler will take some initial information, and a specialist nurse will call you back.

Babies, children and young people identified by a healthcare professional as deteriorating or approaching the end of life can receive immediate advice and support through SPOC. Their care will also be discussed by our regional multidisciplinary team, bringing together specialist professionals to consider what support is needed.
