Care at every stage

No two children we care for are the same, and neither are their families. Some come to us for many years, others for a short and precious time. Some are with us for a while and then, as their needs change, move on from our care. And whether a child needs expert care around the clock or a family simply needs a listening ear, a helping hand or somewhere to feel normal for a while, we’re here with the right care and support.

Whatever a child’s age and whatever they’re facing we’re here with the right care and support, our care is shaped around them and the people who love them. From a diagnosis before birth to the move into adult services, we’re here for the whole journey.

The children and young people we care for

Antenatal

When tests during pregnancy show a baby may have a life-shortening condition, we’re here from the very beginning, offering support, guidance and a gentle hand to hold through an uncertain time.

Florence
Babies

For babies with complex or life-shortening conditions, we offer specialist care, comfort and a calm, supportive space, for them and for parents navigating the hardest of starts.

Children

We help children live as fully as they can, with expert care, play and therapies that bring comfort and joy, alongside support for their brothers, sisters and parents.

Young people

As children grow, their needs and wishes change. We support young people to have choice, independence and fun, while giving their families the care they rely on.

Transition support

Moving from children’s to adult services can be a daunting step. We help young people and their families prepare for the change, so the move to adult care feels as smooth and supported as possible.

Here to help your family

If you think Rainbows could support a baby, child or young person you know, we’d love to hear from you. Referrals come through a healthcare professional, such as a GP, consultant or community nurse, so a good first step is to speak to someone already involved in the child’s care. If you’re not sure where to start, get in touch and we’ll help point you in the right direction.
