Our children’s hospice in Loughborough
Our hospice in Loughborough is a warm, welcoming place, a home away from home for the families we care for. It’s somewhere children can play, families can be together and skilled care is always close at hand, in surroundings designed to feel calm, bright and full of life.
What to expect
Walking into Rainbows for the first time, many families are surprised. A hospice isn’t what they imagined. Ours is a bright, happy place, filled with colour, comfort and the sound of children enjoying themselves.
Whether a family visits for a short break, for expert care or for support at the end of a child’s life, our team is here to make them feel welcome, safe and completely at home. Nothing is too much trouble, and every family is cared for in their own way.
Inpatient care and short breaks
Children and young people stay with us for all sorts of reasons, from a short break with care on hand, to symptom management, to support at the end of life. Whatever brings a family to us, our nurses and care team are here around the clock.
While they stay, children can enjoy everything the hospice has to offer, and families can simply spend time together, knowing help is always nearby.
Our facilities
Rainbows is designed with children and families at its heart. Our facilities include a hydrotherapy pool, a music room, soft play, a multi-sensory room and beautiful gardens, all created to give children experiences they might not get anywhere else.
There are comfortable bedrooms and welcoming communal spaces too, where families can relax, share a meal or simply be together.
Who we help
With the right equipment and our team on hand, children who need a lot of medical support can still enjoy our hydrotherapy pool with their families. One mother told us that a swim at Rainbows was the first time she’d been able to fully put her arms around her child and give them a real hug. Moments like that are what Rainbows is here for.
Family accommodation
When a child stays at Rainbows, their family can stay close by. Our on-site accommodation means parents, brothers and sisters can be nearby throughout, spending precious time together and making memories in comfortable, private surroundings.
