Everything we do at Rainbows is guided by a clear purpose, to brighten short lives. We’re here for every child we care for, and for the families who love them. Our mission, vision and values shape how we work every day, and how we make sure families get the very best of us, wherever they need us.
Our Mission
We provide compassionate, expert palliative and end-of-life care to babies, children and young people across the East Midlands.
The unique needs of each baby, child and family are at the centre of everything we do. Our mission is to support them in the setting where they feel most comfortable, working alongside other professionals to provide care, create opportunities and make meaningful memories through illness, death and bereavement.
As a nurse-led organisation, we’re leading the way in children’s palliative care, combining advanced nursing expertise with strong partnerships to support more families than ever before.
Our vision
The Rainbows Experience, wherever you are.
We believe every family we care for should have the Rainbows Experience throughout their palliative or end-of-life care.
We provide the best possible care, where choice, quality and expertise come first, so families can make the decisions that are right for them. As a child nears the end of their life, we take care of the clinical side, so families are free to focus on what matters most, spending precious time together, surrounded by comfort, dignity and love. And after a child dies, we continue to offer support and compassion through bereavement and grief.
Our care reaches beyond buildings and locations. We believe the Rainbows Experience should be wherever families need it to be, whether that’s at the hospice, at home or in hospital.

It’s about helping families to thrive, to seize every moment together and to create memories to hold close today and tomorrow.

We’re a team of experts from many fields, and we use that knowledge to strive for excellence in everything we do. We keep learning, keep adapting to the needs of the families we support and keep sharing what we know across our sector.
