Help families make every moment count this Christmas.
Help families make every moment count this Christmas. When a child is seriously ill, the whole family is affected. Your Christmas donation can help families spend precious time together, making memories that will last forever.
Christmas is a time for family.
But for families with children who have a serious illness or are facing end-of-life care, it can be one of the toughest times.
At Rainbows, our specialist nurses help families navigate complex decisions, access expert medical care, and make the most of the precious time they have together.
Will you donate today to ensure Rainbows can be there for more families, providing expert care wherever it’s needed this Christmas?
For families like Felicity’s, Christmas was uncertain
For Tori and Rhys, their whole world changed when their three-year-old daughter, Felicity, was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Situations like Rhys and Tori’s are the reason Rainbows always supports the whole family, whether they’re at home, in hospital or in the hospice. We’re there for the clinical needs of children and there to help with all the families emotional and practical needs through the whole journey, and continue giving support after their child has died.
We support siblings by helping them to process what’s happening and what they’re feeling, and making it possible for them to have as many fun, normal childhood experiences as they can. Making memories together. Like Christmas.
Rainbows was there for their family
“Our whole world came from beneath us at that point and we were told we would have nine to 12 months with her. Our life turned into a whirlwind of appointments and administering medicines. We were trying to make life as normal as possible for Felicity and her older sister, Bethany, while dealing with our own fears.”
“There was so much to come to terms with, and our attention needed to go to Felicity’s palliative care needs. To have Rainbows to help and support Bethany was an invaluable resource beyond words. We would have struggled with how to support Bethany with the right words when we were struggling to come to terms with it ourselves.”

Support for the whole family
“Rainbows helped Felicity, and I loved going there. There were lots of nice people and lots of things to do. I remember soft play and music and doing arts and crafts together.
There was even a swimming pool where we went swimming together! One of my favourite things was when we had a bath together, there were lights and bubbles and toys, and Rainbows played our favourite Disney songs.
I got to give Felicity lots of hugs and kisses, and when she died, we were all really really sad but the Rainbows people really looked after us all.”

Over the last year, thanks to donations like yours, we’ve been able to support nearly 1,000 babies, children and young people in the East Midlands who had a serious illness, as well as their families. Supporters like you made it possible for them to spend more meaningful time together and create more precious memories to cherish. And you made it possible for them to choose where to be in their last days together.
We’re proud of what we have achieved together. But we need to do more. Much more.
As the demand for Rainbows’ services continue to grow year on year, we need your help to keep our services running, so we can be there for more families across the East Midlands who need us most.
