Time to light up and the sky… and the dance floor! ‘Strictly’ theme for charity bonfire and fireworks night

Rainbows is delighted to announce that this year’s spectacular bonfire night celebration will be called ‘Strictly Fireworks’ and feature a breath-taking pyrotechnic display set to music inspired by the popular television show.

The annual charity event, which takes place at Leicester Racecourse in Oadby on Saturday 7th November,  was previously known as the ‘Festival of Fireworks’ and has been a highlight of the Autumn events calendar for over a decade. As well as a huge bonfire, event goers will be treated to two fireworks displays, a funfair, refreshments and stalls. Plus there will be an array of live entertainment on stage hosted by Smooth Radio.

Rainbows is no stranger to the famous Saturday night ball room dancing show, with many patrons and friends of the hospice treading the boards over the years. Former snooker champion, Willie Thorne, and Golf legend, Tony Jacklin, who put on their dancing shoes in 2007 and 2013, are both Patrons of the Leicestershire hospice, while boxer and Olympic gold medallist, Audley Harrison, who took part in the 2011 series, popped in to meet the families and staff just a few weeks ago.

During his visit, Audley said: “The staff at Rainbows do such a wonderful job, even with limited resources, bravo to all of them. I’ve had a wonderful time meeting the children and young people. Truly inspirational.”

Katie Baxter, Head of Community and Events at Rainbows, said: “The Rainbows bonfire and firework night is one of our most popular events and last year attracted over 8,000 people. This year, we wanted to make it even more magical and give our supporters something just a little bit different. It promises to be a great night out for the whole family!”

She continued: “If previous events are anything to go by, it’s going to be very busy, so I’d definitely recommend booking tickets in advance. All of the money raised will ensure Rainbows is able to help the region’s poorliest children and their families. “

The gates and funfair open at 5.30pm, followed by a children’s firework display at 7pm. Lighting of the bonfire will take place at 7.30pm and the main firework display will begin at 8.00pm. The funfair will continue until 10pm.

Tickets in advance are just £5 per person or £20 for a family ticket (two adults and three children). Children under five go free. On the night, tickets will be £7 and £25. To book or for more information visit www.rainbows.co.uk/bonfire or call: 0800 9521133
