Rainbows launches popular walk

Rainbows wants people to lace up their walking shoes and join in with our 20th birthday celebrations by taking part in the Walk of Life.

Our popular Walk of Life is back for 2014 with a brand new venue. Instead of traditionally taking place on the streets of Leicestershire, this year’s event will be held at Watermead Country Park on Sunday 29 June. Walkers can choose between a one, three or 10 mile route. There will also be a children’s fairground, live entertainment and stalls.

More than 500 people took part in the event last year raising £27,000.

Katie Baxter, community and events manager at Rainbows, said: “This year is very special for us as we are celebrating 20 years of care and we are doing more than ever before. This annual event is extremely popular in the Leicestershire community and we hope that people will join us and be part of our celebrations.

“We decided to change the location this year to make the event more exciting and different for our regular supporters, as well as hopefully interesting new walkers. We are also providing activity packs for children to entertain them on the way round the course and dogs are also welcome; there really is something for everybody. So dust off those walking shoes or trainers, sign up and help us to raise that extra £100,000 and support those families who need us the most.”

Entry for the event, which starts at 10.30am, is £5 for adults and £3 for children.
