Loughborough businesses takes on sports day fun for us

Colleagues at a Loughborough company are preparing to take part in an event filled with inflatables, costumes, foam and water for our charity.

Twenty employees from Dixons Carphone, in Belton Road W Ext, are taking on It’s a Knockout on Thursday 4 July for us. Based on the popular TV show, the event sees teams rotate through 12 different games, from a banana dash, dinghy derby and a basketball shootout to a costumed chicken run.

It is the second time the company is joining the event and the two teams – known as The Dare Devils and Outbound Warriors – aim to raise £1,400 for our work in caring for more than 400 babies, children and young people with life-limiting illnesses.

Rosie Sutton, Order Fulfilment Advisor at Dixons Carphone, said: “I’m taking part in this event because we had so much fun last year I just had to do it again. It’s a great way to bring colleagues together I’ll be completing the event with people in the business I wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to know. It’s for a great cause, Rainbows is very important to me which is another reason I want to take part to support the children who need Rainbows’ services, I know if anyone in my family ever needed their help I’d want it to be available to them.”

Emily Wright, Corporate Fundraiser at Rainbows, added: “It’s a Knockout was a great TV show and this event really is so much fun. We are delighted to once again have the support of staff from Dixons Carphone and we wish them all the best.

“We hope they will inspire other businesses to sign up to a great event. For two and a half hours, the 12 games will test your teamwork, strength, stamina and balance.”

The event, at 3M Sports Field, Loughborough, starts at 5pm and entry is £150 per team.
