It’s anchors away for Rainbows staff taking on Nottingham Riverside Festival Dragon Boat Challenge

Staff from Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People are ‘All aboard’ and ready to take on the Nottingham Riverside Festival Dragon Boat Challenge.

Pictured in their ‘training boat’ at the hospice are (l-r) Holli Sheahan, Andy Lupton, Alex Johnstone, Tom Stanyard and Matt Winn – who are all part of the crew ‘Big Bow’s Buccaneers’.

The boat was made by 18-year-old Murad Hussain, who has a rare, genetically inherited neuromuscular condition known as Spinal Muscular Atrophy and has been visiting Rainbows for many years.

Rainbows is the official charity partner for the event, which takes place on the River Trent at Victoria Embankment on Sunday 6 August. Up to 50 crews from across the East Midlands are expected to row the 200m course. Last year more than £20,000 was raised for Rainbows.
