Business Awards

On the 13th November we hosted our very first Rainbows Business Awards which saw companies from across the whole of the East Midlands coming together at the Yew Lodge Hotel in Kegworth to enjoy a night of celebration. It was wonderful (if not a little overwhelming!) for us to see so many of our corporate supporters, big and small, all together in one room – and we had a great night!

The travel-themed event started with a race between the tables to see who could correctly put on and inflate an aeroplane life jacket, there was lots of fun and laughter and it really set the tone for the evening!

The winner: DCI Artform
DCI Artform completed the 3 Peaks Challenge, it was a real team effort; they smashed their fundraising target and the event forged new friendships and inspired other members of their team. They’ve supported for a number of years, do regular make up sales and every year enter two teams into the Dragon Boat Race; they work together as a fundraising team led by their charity committee

Staff Fundraiser of the Year

The winner: Ian Tilley from E.ON
Ian is always at the forefront of Ratcliffe on Soar Power Station’s fundraising efforts. He has made the phenomenal achievement of running in 11 consecutive London Marathons and over the years has personally raised around £30,000 for Rainbows.

Corporate Gift in Kind

The winner: Juice
Juice have donated over 700 hours of their time to support a whole range of projects and events at Rainbows. They have produced the wonderful Christmas book included in your goodie bags, all the design and print for this evening, as well as our Rainbows Selfie campaign. Most recently they have been working in the hospice for several days painting a mural to reflect the young people who use the facilities.

Most Innovative Fundraiser

The winner: Modelzed
Modelzed showed innovation by incorporating fundraising for Rainbows into the Miss Great Britain event. The ‘Miss Charity’ category encourages all contestants to think of creative ways to fundraise, and not only have they raised a considerable amount for Rainbows, but they have also increased Rainbows’ exposure across the whole of Great Britain.

Outstanding Voluntary Project

The winners: Opus Energy and MARS Petcare

Opus Energy give the time of four members of staff for one day every month. We rely on them to help on our telephone team, saving us hours of time to help raise awareness for events and campaigns like our Christmas raffles. They are unique in their consistency and the hard work they do while they are at the hospice, they never fail us!

MARS Petcare did something really special for the siblings of the children at Rainbows. They organised a fantastic 20th birthday ball that was attended by siblings and families, including a disco, food, and magician. The team who organised the event did a fantastic job, despite being out of their comfort zone.

Guardsman Ltd made their first donation to Rainbows back in 1996 and have been supporting us ever since. What started as members of staff taking part in a sponsored assault course has developed into an annual golf day. Having supported us for 18 of our 20 years, they truly are an Outstanding Long Term Supporter.

The winner: Champions (UK) PLC
Champions UK PLC dedicate their work to raising awareness and money for Rainbows through a vast array of events they run throughout the year including the Derby, Nottingham and Leicester Business Awards, British Par 3 Championship and a wide array of black tie dinners. They engage their contacts, their celebrity clients and showcase the work of Rainbows to people across the whole of the East Midlands. A truly well-deserved win for Partnership of the Year.
