Spectacular car show to raise funds for Rainbows staged in Leicester

A Leicester motor enthusiast is putting on a spectacular display car show to raise money for Rainbows – the place that cares for his brother.

For Shivam Nathwani, life has been an endless treadmill of operations, physiotherapy and medication. He almost lost his life twice on the operating table and has been confined to a wheelchair since he was 10-years-old.

Although his visits are now less frequent, throughout his teenage years, Shivam came to our hospice for respite and day care. For Shivam, who relies on a ventilator 24 hours a day, our services and facilities gave him back his independence. Because of his tracheostomy, the Hydrotherapy Pool at our hospice was one of the only place Shivam could swim safely. A place he could shed the constraints of his wheelchair.

Shivam and his brother, Pritesh, are both avid car enthusiasts and Shivam has his own motoring YouTube channel called The Shivam Review (TSR), along with a strong social media presence. (Instagram: TSR_UK) (Facebook: The Shivam Review)

To help raise funds for us, the pair have organised The Ultimate Family Fun Day and Motor show at Leicester Racecourse on Sunday 14 August between 10am and 4pm.

The event will boast a range of motor dealers as well as activities for children with food and drinks on offer.

There will also be a TSR VIP area and the TSR Lounge will play host to supercars and hypercars, where 10% of the entry price goes to Rainbows. The cars on show will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for car enthusiasts to take pictures.

Pritesh hoped people would come and join them at the event. “Rainbows is really important to our family,” he said. “When Shivam went to stay, it gave my mum a break. Rainbows always gave him a spark and we want to give something back to them.”

Prtiesh staged a similar event last month and raised £1,500 for our charity.

Shivam said “I want to show the world, you can achieve your dreams with any obstacle in place, this is my legacy and I want to make my family proud especially my late grandparents.”

Jenny Ball, Rainbows Community Fundraiser, added: “This is a fabulous event organised by Pritesh and such a treat for motor enthusiasts. We hope people will go along and support him, which in turn supports us to be able to provide care and support to hundreds of children and young people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses.”

Tickets to the VIP area £12 for adults, £5 for under 17s free. A family ticket for two adults and two children is £22.
