Blaby sisters are double bubble trouble

Two sisters from Blaby are taking on our Derby Bubble Rush because they want to help youngsters less fortunate than themselves. Eleven-year-old Keira Hitchin and sister, Mia (six), are aiming to raise £1,000 for us by doing our first ever Bubble Rush at Markeaton Park, Derby, on Saturday 24 September.

They even have their own fundraising web pages, with a bit of friendly sibling rivalry to see who can raise the most. Dad Scott Hitchin, is a key account manager at Leicestershire-based TGW Limited. The logistics group has supported us for five years raising almost £20,000.

Scott said: “For me, it is really important that the girls understand the value of helping others who may not have the things in life that they have. They are both thoughtful and considerate and understand there are others who are less fortunate. They are very supportive of Rainbows. “It was their idea to take on this event and they are very excited. I am very proud of them and I will be joining them on their challenge.”

Victoria Brunt, Events Coordinator at Rainbows, added: “We are thrilled to have Keira and Mia taking part in this event and we hope they will inspire other people in Leicestershire to sign up too. You don’t have to run. It’s not about speed or fitness, it’s about celebration, having fun with friends and family and raising a smile, and sponsorship, for Rainbows.”

Entry is £25 for over 16s, £7.50 for under 16s and under 3s go free. For more information, visit www.rainbows.co.uk/bubble
