Becky Green – Rainbows Volunteer

I started volunteering with Rainbows when I was asked by a friend to help out. After finding out how much they need to raise, and seeing firsthand the work they do, I also decided to make it one of my set charities for fundraising.

I am a singer and raise money for Rainbows by performing outside shops and putting on events occasionally.

If anyone was thinking about volunteering for Rainbows, I would say absolutely go for it, it’s such an amazing charity and the work they do is irreplaceable.

I have multiple chronic illnesses and seeing the impact that Rainbows has on the children under their care, especially when talking to some of the families while I’ve been out raising money, has pushed me to do more and more for the charity where I can, using my love of singing for a purpose.

What I enjoy the most is knowing that I can do something good with a hobby of mine, using something I love to raise money. And still being able to do things to help despite my health.

It is also rewarding seeing the impact music has on the public when I’m out and about; I get a lot of people say how it’s made their day, or it’s made them feel emotional. Music really does bring people together.

Every little helps when it comes to volunteering, don’t let anything stop you if it’s something you want to do.

Rainbows is such a special place. I’ve been there and seen the work they do myself and the care they put in for not only the children in their care but the siblings and family makes all the difference.
