By volunteering with us, you’ll become part of our amazing team. With over 300 dedicated volunteers supporting our work across a range of roles, there are a variety ways you can make a difference. Whether you are interested in a role at our hospice, in the local community or in our retail shops, we will have something that suits you.

NEW – Fashion and Furniture Store Volunteer

Be part of something new by volunteering at Rainbows very first Fashion and Furniture Store in Shepshed. Whether you enjoy working behind the scenes or chatting with customers on the shop floor, there’s a role here for you!

As a volunteer, you’ll be part of a friendly, dynamic team that plays a vital role in supporting Rainbows. You’ll help raise awareness of our work, showcase and sell fantastic products, and contribute to generating crucial funds that support the hospice.

There are a variety of volunteer roles available, from welcoming customers on the shop floor and sorting behind the scenes to helping steam clothes and arranging furniture displays.

Location: Armstrong Mills, Shepshed, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE12 9NN
Time Commitment: Monday-Sunday. Ideally a couple of ours a week, but any time you can give makes a difference!

NEW – Volunteer Furniture Delivery Assistant

Our Furniture Delivery Team at Rainbows’ new Shepshed store offers an exciting volunteering opportunity for those who enjoy being hands-on and getting stuck-in with a range of different tasks.

As a Furniture Delivery Assistant Volunteer, you’ll work alongside our drivers to deliver furniture to people’s homes and collect items when needed. You’ll be part of a friendly team that plays a vital role in supporting Rainbows. 

Location: Armstrong Mills, Shepshed, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE12 9NN
Time Commitment: Monday-Sunday. A typical volunteer shift lasts 4 hours.

E-Commerce Volunteer

Are you passionate about online shopping and making a difference?

Join our busy E-Commerce team and help us turn pre-loved treasures and Rainbows-branded products into vital funds to support babies, children, young people and their families across the East Midlands.

Based at our Wigston shop, you’ll be part of a lively, welcoming team that lists hundreds of items each week, giving them a second life instead of ending up in landfill.

Whether you’re a whizz with words, have a great eye for photography, or simply love the thrill of a good find, we’d love you to be part of our e-commerce team.

Location: 29-31 Bell Street, Wigston, LE18 1AD      Time Commitment: Monday-Friday; Minimum 2 hours a week

Retail Shop Volunteer

Our shops wouldn’t exist without the amazing support of our volunteers! You play a vital role in our high street presence, helping us raise awareness for Rainbows, sell our fantastic products, and generate crucial funds to support our hospice’s incredible work.

Bow Bear Mascot

We are looking for volunteers with a sense of fun and energy who can wear the Bow Bear costume at events across the East Midlands.

Bow Bear is hugely important in raising the profile of Rainbows and spreading fun and happiness to everyone they meet.

Time Commitment: Ad-hoc/Flexible

Step into the passenger seat and join our close-knit team of drivers and mates. Whilst you start at our hospice in Lark Rise, you will be travelling the landscapes of the East Midlands, where every mile driven fuels our support for our babies, children, young people and their families. Last year our van drivers and mates covered over 18,700 miles, showing just how vital a link they are between the hospice and our retail shops.

Your role in transporting our donations directly contributes to raising valuable funds crucial for our hospice’s work.

Location: Rainbows Hospice, LE11 2HS
Time Commitment: Monday-Friday; Minimum 4 hours a week between 8:30am-12:30pm or 1pm-5pm

Community Fundraiser Volunteer

Rainbows supports around 750 babies, children and young people, throughout the East Midlands, each year; but the annual statutory funding we receive would only keep Rainbows open for 7 weeks. Therefore, our Community Fundraisers play a vital role in helping us to, quite literally, keep our doors open.

With over 100 fundraising events and activities each year, there are lots of different ways you could help us raise vital money to help us brighten short lives – there really is something for everyone! 

Location: Local events across the East Midlands
Time Commitment: Ad-hoc/Flexible
