We recognise that the Hospice is just too far away for some families to travel to and that there are some families who wish to receive hospice care and support but not in the hospice building.

As part of our strategy, we are therefore working hard to explore how we can extend the care and support we provide to families closer to home in addition to the existing family support and therapy services.

Hospice at Home
Our Hospice at Home service was launched in October 2023 to provide expert, comprehensive specialist nursing care in the homes of our babies, children and young people. Our team support those with increasing care needs and where their condition is deteriorating or when end of life care is needed. We work closely with other community nursing services to help families build confidence in caring for their child at home to support discharge from hospital.

Community Hubs
Our hubs are hosted in various community venues across the East Midlands, offering a welcoming space for families and carers of babies, children and young people.

These hubs provide:
A Shared Experience: Connect with other families who understand each other’s journey.
Social Opportunities: A safe environment for families to socialise and bond.
Support from Rainbows staff: Access expert support from the Multidisciplinary Team, including signposting to relevant services, activities, and peer support.

Babies, children, young people and their siblings are welcome with parents and carers, retaining responsibility for their care.
