What is the Big Give?

Big Give runs match funding campaigns for charities and special causes at key moments across the year. It started back in 2007, founded by Sir Alec Reed. The Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest collaborative fundraising campaign, championing a wide range of charitable organisations.

How it works:

Matched funding: Public donations are doubled using funds from trusts, philanthropists, foundations, and corporate partners, called Champions.

The Christmas Challenge uses the Big Give Pledge Model of match funding. This model allows supporters of participating charities to have their donations doubled with match funds provided by the charity’s own supporters (pledgers) and Big Give’s Champion partners. Creating a combined match pot, which is used to double public donations made through Big Give’s website during the campaign week.

Greater impact: Your donations are doubled at no extra cost to you, meaning twice the impact. £10 becomes £20, £50 becomes £100. Double the donation, double the difference.

How can you get involved?

Double Your Christmas Donation with Big Give.

From 1 to 8 December 2026, every donation made to Rainbows through the Big Give Christmas Challenge will be doubled at no extra cost to you, helping your gift go twice as far for the babies, children and young people we support.

Planning a festive fundraiser this Christmas? Whether you’re organising a workplace event, fundraising at your school or club, or bringing together family and friends for a seasonal celebration, you can make an even bigger impact. Simply donate the money you raise via the Big Give website during the campaign week, and your fundraising total will be doubled, doubling the difference you make for Rainbows.

Last year, we won an award in the Big Give Christmas Challenge!

We were awarded the Exceptional Planning Award. This award recognises outstanding strategy and execution, and we’re incredibly proud that our meticulous preparation and carefully timed campaign impressed the judges – and earned us an extra £1,000 to support babies, children, young people and families. 🌈

We’re so grateful to our incredible supporters who made this possible.
