Rainbows Busts the Myths

Busting the myths about children's hospices

Celebrities have come together to help us create a video busting the myths about children’s hospices.

Famous faces, including Coronation Street actor Charlie De Melo, Strictly legend Len Goodman and ex-England footballer Stuart Pearce, have teamed up with us to make the special film as part of our 25th birthday celebrations this year.

The video is already proving to be a huge hit online, being shared by other hospices across the UK, as well as families who use their services.

Jo Sims, Rainbows Associate Director of Care at Rainbows, said: “There are so many misconceptions out there as to what a children’s hospice is actually like. We hear all sorts of myths about the hospice. Some of our families are wary of accessing our services because of the fear of the unknown, but as soon as they walk through the doors, they say it is not at all what they expected.

“While yes, we are always dealing with sensitive and sad situations, we go above and beyond to ensure our children, young people and their families create memories. It is about living life in the time they have left, whether that is hours or years. We aim to fulfil their wishes while providing the best care for the whole family.”

Visitors to our Community Open Day on Saturday 21 September, will be able to watch the video. They can also take a tour of our facilities and ask their own questions about hospice myths.

Open Day runs from 10am until 3.30pm at Rainbows, Lark Rise, Loughborough. For more information, visit rainbows.co.uk/openday
