Northampton boxer visits children’s hospice

Northampton boxer Chantelle Cameron took time out from her busy training schedule to visit Rainbows.

Olympic hopeful Chantelle (22) spent time talking to youngsters at Rainbows as well as touring our facilities.

Chantelle, who was inspired to take up boxing after watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, said: “It was really nice to visit Rainbows and meet everyone. I didn’t expect it to be like it is; it is so homely, nice and bright. It has been an amazing experience for me and an eye opener.”

Annamarie Petsis Jones, HR director for Opus Energy – which sponsors Chantelle and supports Rainbows, added: “We are happy that Chantelle could join our volunteers today and help deliver our annual donation. She is so lively and personable and we hoped that the children and young people would enjoy getting a chance to hear her story and to ask her questions. Our employees have really enjoyed raising funds and volunteering for Rainbows and we look forward to continuing our support in 2014/15.”
