Here comes the bride

There will still be tiaras and veils but Belper’s Lauren Shaw is opting for a less than traditional hen party as she takes on the Derby Bubble Rush.

Lauren (26) will be tying the knot with Pete Champion in July at The Ashes Barn, in Leek. In the run up to the big day, Lauren plans to have a spectacular hen party with a twist.

Along with 11 friends and her five-year-old daughter, Mischa, Lauren will take on our Derby Bubble Rush at Markeaton Park on Saturday 8 July.

The dental nurse, who works at Derwent Street Dental Practice in Belper, said: “It was my idea to do this for my hen party as I am a keen runner and so is my daughter. I have never done anything for Rainbows before but it is such a worthwhile cause. Any children’s charity is fantastic and all of my hens are really supportive because they know what it means to me. I really hope other people will get on board and join us at this fantastic event.”

Last year was the first time the event had been held in Derbyshire and more than 1,600 people took part running through colourful stations of frothy bubbles.

Victoria Brunt, Events Coordinator at Rainbows, added: “We are thrilled to have Lauren’s Hen Party taking part in this event and we hope they will inspire other people to sign up too. You don’t have to run. It’s not about speed or fitness, it’s about celebration, having fun with friends and family and raising a smile, and sponsorship, for Rainbows.”

The route is wheelchair, pushchair and child friendly. There will be live entertainment throughout the day. Entry is £25 for over 16s, £7.50 for under 16s and under 3s go free.
