Gold at the end of the Rainbow!

Rainbows has been awarded the prestigious President’s Gold Award at the annual RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards.

The rare and esteemed prize is only awarded to a small number of elite organisations from around the world who have successfully reached and maintained the Gold Standard consecutively for ten years.

Dianne Banks, our health and safety officer, said: “No other children or young person’s hospice has ever achieved this status. In fact, very few organisations, including big national and international brands, have been able to achieve the Gold Standard for ten years running. So for Rainbows to be given this award makes me extremely proud. It really goes to show that Rainbows is a centre of excellence and that we really are striving to be the best that we can be.

“It’s an achievement for any organisation to receive the President’s Award because of the high standard required in achieving the Gold Award in each of the ten key categories. To maintain this consistently over ten years just goes to show how hard everyone here at Rainbows works, day in, day out, to ensure that the children and young people always receive the highest standard of care.”

The awards, which are open to businesses and organisations of all types from the UK and abroad, are run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). Organisations are assessed by a panel of industry judges who look at ten key categories including occupational health and safety management systems, as well as leadership and workforce involvement.

Dianne will receive the award on behalf of Rainbows at an awards event to be held at ExCeL London on June 16.
