Charity partners needed for Loughborough Santa Run

Although Christmas may seem far away, Loughborough Rotary Club has announced a firm festive favourite for the town – the Santa Fun Run and Walk – will be held again this year.

The event has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charities as many Santas make their way through the town each December. Having organised the event for the past 17 years, the Rotary Club has now passed on the reins to our charity.

Peter Griffin, from Loughborough Rotary Club, said: “This event has become a favourite in the town and a lot of money has been raised for an array of charities.

“It has been a pleasure to host but it is now time to take a step back into a supporting role. We are delighted that Rainbows, a valued local charity, is taking over. We would like to thank all of the businesses and organisations that have supported this event over the years, helping to make it such a success.”

We are now inviting other not-for-profit organisations to apply to be a charity partner at the event.

Claire Hoggan, Rainbows Event Organiser, said: “We are delighted to be the new organisers for this event, something that has been so wonderfully organised by the rotary club for so many years.

“We know Christmas is probably far from people’s minds as they are planning their summers. But we wanted to invite other charities to join us – meaning more great causes, as well as Rainbows, will also benefit from the generosity of the community.”

The Santa Fun Run and Walk starts in the Market Place on Sunday 4 December at 11am.
