Earlier this year, we moved a little closer to the future and wired in our new installation of solar panels. From now on, we’ll be able to generate a portion of our electricity requirements just from the suns rays, saving money in the process – great news all round!

We used a local company to carry out the work called Utility Trade. After visiting the hospice they were quite keen to do some fundraising for us and managed an amazing £1,163.13 with their innovative ‘balloon challenge’. The premise was simple, but inventive – when one of their customers or suppliers made a donation to the challenge, they had to nominate a member of the team. The two staff members with the most nominations at the end of the ‘bidding’ had to go head to head to see who could pop the most balloons in 60 seconds. To facilitate that, Utility Trade even filled one of their offices with balloons!

In the end, Jesal Shah (Head of Communications) and Edward Allen (Managing Director) were shortlisted and went head to head with Jesal showing a superior technique to edge out a win.

We’ll note here that donations actually came in after the popping had taken place, which is why the cheque shows a different amount to the total they actually raised!

A huge thanks from everyone at Rainbows, both for your professional services and also for being such good sports in fundraising for us!
