Hundreds take on Leicestershire Walk

More than 500 people and dogs laced up their walking boots on Sunday 19 May and helped to raise thousands of pounds for us.

Walkers, many dressed as superheroes, enjoyed the sunshine as they took part in our Walk of Life.

The event started at Leicestershire County Cricket Club, in Grace Road, and walkers took on a 15 mile trek or a five mile amble around the city and surrounding countryside.

We hope the event, which was sponsored by Oak FM and Next, will raise around £30,000 for our Hospice which provides care and support to children with life-limited illnesses and their families.

Events fundraiser Beccy May said: “As always, the Walk of Life was a fantastic event and I would like to thank everyone who took part, all those who supported the walkers and all of our volunteers. We rely solely on funds to run the Hospice and we wouldn’t be able to do it without your support.

“Luckily the sun was shining and there was a wonderful atmosphere. We had lots of people in fancy dress and many dogs took part with their owners. We look forward to next year’s event and hope that you will join us.”
