Ever So Sensible’s Rainbow Burger proves big hit

A Leicester pub company has raised £2,417 for us by serving a special meal.

The Rainbow Burger has been on the menu at the Marquis Wellington and The Globe since June 2019.  For each burger sold, 50p was donated to the hospice which cares for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses, including those from Leicestershire.

The pubs also sold programmes and glassware at a Beer Festival back last May, with proceeds going to Rainbows.

The Marquis and Globe are two of eleven establishments in the Ever So Sensible Group, which runs pubs, restaurants and hotels in the East Midlands, to take part in the fundraising initiative helping to raise £2,417.

James Dolan, Operations Director at Ever So Sensible, said: “Rainbows is an amazing charity that does truly fantastic work across the East Midlands.  We always try and do the right thing by supporting local and giving back to those who need it most.  As a company we wondered how we could best help, and some of our team members suggested donating 50p from every burger that we sell.  We will be keeping the Rainbow Burger on our new menus when we get to re-open our fantastic pubs, because we know that during these tough times it is vitally important to keep helping others.”

Emily Wright, Corporate Fundraiser at Rainbows, added: “What a fantastic idea to produce a Rainbow Burger and what a fantastic amount to raise. Thank you so much to everyone at the Marquis Wellington, The Globe, Ever So Sensible and all of their customers for this incredible donation.”
