Rainbows staff member takes on iconic marathon

An Advanced Clinical Practitioner at Rainbows is swapping his scrubs for running gear and heading north to take part in the world’s biggest half marathon.

Dave Harris works within our Care Team. On Sunday 8 September he will take on the AJ Bell Great North Run and aims to raise £1,000.

With a plan to get fit and improve his overall health before he was 50, Dave (49) started the Couch to 5K last year and really enjoyed it.

“I love being out and about and I am really loving running,” said father of two Dave. “I live in Leicestershire, and I spent 20 years working in the Leicester Royal Infirmary, so Rainbows has always been really familiar to me. Now I work at the charity, raising money for us seemed the natural choice for my fundraising.

“It is a real privilege to work at Rainbows and to get to know our families. It is such a positive place and is all about ‘What can we do?’ Rainbows has a holistic approach that ensures every baby, child and young person, and their families, are given special time.

“So to raise funds while taking on the most iconic, greatest, mass participation event will be really exciting.”

Our charity still has running places for the event. By signing up to run on behalf of the charity, sponsorship will be helping to support babies, children and young people with terminal and life-limiting illnesses, and their families.
