Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering at Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People

Below you'll find details of our current volunteering opportunities. If you're interested in applying for any of the roles, please complete the Volunteer Application Form or email our volunteering team

Garden volunteers:

Volunteering in our garden ensures that the Hospice always has an inviting outdoor space for our families, children, young people and visitors to use and we have a variety of different gardens from an eco-garden, reflection garden, memorial garden and a play area.
If you have a budding interest in gardening and you want us to help you bloom this may be the role for you. We promise it’s an excellent way to spend your "thyme".

The main duties remain flexible depending on the season and any events being held at the Hospice.

We're currently looking for garden volunteers to help specifically in our Remembrance Garden, which is a peaceful area where our families can reflect and remember.

Why become a gardening volunteer at Rainbows:

  • You'll be helping to maintain our gardens, including our Remembrance Garden which is a peaceful area our families can reflect and remember
  • Our gardening volunteers are very social and always swap tips and tricks in gardening - perfect if you want to improve your gardening skills too
  • You'll meet like-minded people and give something back

Sound like the perfect role for you? Get in touch with our Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, Sarah Rice, today via sarah.rice@rainbows.co.uk or call 01509 638 059.

Retail volunteers:

Our five shops provide our local communities with fashionable, high quality choices. Our shops also raise awareness of our charity and are often the first point of contact for potential fundraisers, supporters or volunteers.

Volunteering in one of our shops can have many benefits such as helping volunteers to build their confidence, skills and experience to apply for paid employment. You may also meet new people, make new friends and become part of the Rainbows team.

There are so many roles within the retails shops so whether you want to sort through the stock and prepare items for sale, or you can help on the tills or helping customers.  We also have volunteers who bring their specialist skills and knowledge to help us with our online eBay store.
