Take Part in the Rainbows Sponsored knitting Challenge

Sadly, every year Rainbows has to care for many local babies and toddlers. We give them love and care, making each and every moment of the lives they have comfortable and special.
If you’re able to knit, you can help us to care for these infants. Please knit either a cot or crib blanket that we can use at

Rainbows and ask your friends and family to sponsor you on your challenge. Your blanket will keep a child warm and your
sponsorship money will help us provide vital nursing care.

New Therapy Wing unveiled at Press Day

The new Therapy Wing at Rainbows was unveiled to press yestarday at a special press day event held at the hospice. Comprising of a new hydrotherapy pool, a state-of-the-art multi-sensory room, family support lounge, 14 new and refurbished bedrooms and much more, Rainbows has invested £4million in the new facility – built as part of the Building for the Future project - which is expected to accommodate even more local children and young people and enable them to give additional days of much needed respite as well as enable provide additional support to local families.

Bingo boss donates share of big cash prize

The founder of an online bingo website has chosen to donate a portion of an uncollected £5000 cash prize to Rainbows.

Rob Hutchison of OnlineBingoClub.co.uk has donated £500 to the hospice after plans for Britain’s first bingo wedding fell through and the £5000 sponsorship money was left unclaimed.

Midnight mums raise £14,500 for Rainbows

Almost two hundred women including two beauty queens gathered at midnight on Saturday to create magic by raising money to help care for children and young people at Rainbows Hospice.

The Miles for Midnight Walk began at Loughborough Town Hall, where the ladies limbered up with aerobics and a massage before setting off on the six mile round-trip by moonlight.

A moving account from two mums of how Rainbows had helped their children and families started the evening, then the mood was raised with music from a local band as the walk started on the stroke of midnight.

The 5 O’Clock Show awards Rainbows Star Volunteer

Doug Knight, volunteer gardener at Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, was awarded for his outstanding contribution to the community on the Channel 4’s The 5 O’Clock Show on Tuesday, 6th July 2010. Doug, aged 85 and from Barrow upon Soar, has volunteered at Rainbows for over six years. He is a part of a small team of volunteer gardeners making sure everything is bright and happy for the children and their families.

World Cup Revival at Rainbows Fun Day

The drama of the World Cup will live on, when Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People holds its annual Family Fun Day on Sunday 1st August.

Sponsored by 3M, there will be exciting events for all the family and the colourful afternoon will include a soccer village where young hopefuls can show off their skills and take part in a keepy-upy contest, with footballs as prizes.
