Seven hundred walkers and superheroes from across the East Midlands descended on Leicester city centre on Sunday to raise money for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People by taking part in the annual Walk of Life.

This year’s walk, which was themed around ‘superheroes’, saw participants complete either a five or 15 mile route that took them alongside the river Soar and began for the first time at Leicestershire County Cricket Club. The event also provided the perfect finale to Children’s Hospice Week, which this year took place between May 14 and 21.

Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire Residents Encouraged to Make a WILL for Charity

1 May 2011

Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People has teamed up with 20 solicitors across the East Midlands to encourage people to get their affairs in order this May, as part of Rainbows’ Make a Will Month.

It is estimated that at least 13,000 people in the East Midlands die every year without having made a will, and thanks to the collaboration, this month people across Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire can create or update a will for just £35 plus VAT, which is more than half the average cost.

Have a Heart Radio Appeal 2011

Heart radio’s charity ‘Have a Heart’ is supporting Children’s Hospices UK this year – and they recently launched their biggest fundraising campaign – the Have a Heart Appeal.

The partnership with Heart is raising funds to help children’s hospices such as Rainbows grow the level of support and care that can be delivered to seriously ill children and their families within their own homes.

This invaluable service allows families to stay in the comfort of their own home, whilst knowing they can access the care, support and practical help that they need.
