Symptom Control

Symptom management is used to improve the quality of life for children and young people living with a life limiting condition or who are at the end of their lives.

The aim is to prevent or treat physical symptoms as well as psychological, social & spiritual issues. This care is delivered by a specialist team of nurses and doctors and a wider multi-disciplinary team.

At Rainbows our aim is to provide that expert medical & nursing care, including the management of distressing symptoms throughout a child or young person’s life. Many of the children and young people supported by Rainbows have very complex symptoms which change over the course of their disease. We work in close partnership with Community Children’s Nurses, hospital teams and GP’s to ensure each child or young person gets the best care we can give. This is alongside support for their whole family.
