People looking for a new challenge for the New Year can take to the road, the skies or the mountains to support us.

Whether it is to lose weight, complete a personal goal or just for fun, we have launched our 2016 events calendar and are encouraging people to beat the post festive blues by signing up to a challenge.

As well as local events across the East Midlands, which will be announced in the next few weeks, some of the more extreme challenges include a Dirty Weekend Obstacle Challenge; A Midnight Mountain Challenge on Yorkshire Three Peaks; scaling the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro; cycling from London to Paris; driving in the Great European Rally, trekking through the Grand Canyons or running along the Great Wall of China. People can also take part in the Great North Run by signing up to run for us.

Victoria Brunt, event organiser at Rainbows, said: “We have a wide range of activities to suit people of all ages and abilities whose New Year’s resolution is to get fit or do something really exciting.

“Our events range from across the continent to here in the East Midlands. Some of the events are a lot tougher than others and people will need time to train so we would encourage them to sign up as soon as possible.

“All of our events are a fantastic opportunity to take on a challenge, get fit, meet other like-minded people and raise funds for Rainbows Hospice, which supports more than 360 children and young people with life-limited and terminal illnesses in the East Midlands.”
