The Duchess of Rutland, our president invites you to join Rainbows at our Annual Lunch at Welford Road (home of Leicester Tigers)… an exclusive spring afternoon of food, entertainment and celebrity guest speaker, Kate Humble.
Now in its 18th year, the Annual Lunch is always a popular event – and this year, with Springwatch and Autumnwatch presenter Kate Humble as the celebrity guest it promises to be no different.
On arrival all guests will be welcomed with a glass of bubbles to enjoy while browsing the luxury local stalls, before being treated to a sumptuous three-course meal which offers a choice of starters, a main course of either slow braised daube of British beef, wild mushrooms, caramelised button onions and creamed potatoes; or a roasted vegetable wellington with parmentier potatoes and creamed leeks; all followed by a delicious dessert.
Chicken liver and pork pate, red onion chutney, baby leaf salad with three crisp breads
Platter of compressed melons, berry compote and raspberry coulis (V)
Slow braised daube of British beef, wild mushrooms & caramelised button onions with creamed potato
Roasted vegetable wellington, parmentier potatoes and creamed leeks (V)
Apple cinnamon and fudge crumble tart, creamy English custard with slices of strawberry and dried raspberry garnish
Fruit salad (V)
Followed by tea /coffee and after dinner mints. Attendees are asked to contact Rainbows by emailing Lynnette if they have any food allergies, intolerences or dietary requirements.
During your meal, you’ll also get to listen to anecdotes and entertaining stories from Kate Humble - presenter of Back to the Land, Arctic Live and Who Do You Think You Are? The event will give you the chance to win fantastic prizes in a raffle and an auction; enjoy a Q&A hosted by BBC Leicester's very own Dave Andrews, while every guest will leave with an exclusive goodie bag.

About Kate Humble
Kate Humble is a writer and presenter. Her most recent television credits include Back to the Land (BBC2, 2017), Arctic Live (BBC2, 2017), Volcano Live (BBC2, 2012), Orbit: Earth’s Extraordinary Journey (BBC 2 2012), The Spice Trail (BBC 2, 2011). Her other television credits include Lambing Live (BBC 2 2010 and 2011) Who Do You Think You Are? (BBC 2, 2009), The Frankincense Trail (BBC 2, 2009) and the long running popular wildlife series Springwatch and Autumnwatch.
In 2012 Kate launched Humble by Nature. Based on a working farm in Monmouthshire, Kate and her husband run courses in food, rural skills and animal husbandry.
She has travelled extensively, including in 2009 to a remote region of Afghanistan. She has written for a number of publications including The Telegraph, The Times, The Independent, Travel Africa and Wanderlust and has a regular column in the Saturday Telegraph about her farm. In 2011 she co-authored Watching Waterbirds with Martin McGill to raise funds for The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, of which she is vice-president.
In 2004 she set up www.stuffyourrucksack.com, a website dedicated to helping travellers give support to the world’s poorest communities.
She is a qualified commercial diver and is the second woman ever to be appointed President of the RSPB. She lives in Wales with her husband Ludo, her dogs Badger and Bella, a hive of bees and various other hoofed, furred and feathered livestock.
About Dave Andrews
Dave Andrews is a BBC Leicester presenter and a Rainbows supporter.
During his 23 years at BBC Leicester, Dave has presented most programmes including most recently Down to Earth and Talking History; while he has also presented radio commentary on major occasions including Richard III’s reburial, Remembrance Sunday and Sing Christmas.
Dave also spearheaded BBC Radio Leicester’s Ruby Rainbow Appeal in 2007 which raised over £600,000 for the new building at Rainbows.
Away from his role at BBC Leicester, Dave has written and produced shows for Curve Theatre – marking the centenary of WW1 and the Queen’s 90th birthday, while in 2015 he became a Deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire.
Our Annual Lunch at Welford Road, home of Leicester Tigers, offer FREE parking for all attendees in the Tigers Crumbie car park next to the stadium.

The luxury local stalls at the event will be open from 11am until 4pm, giving all attendees the opportunity to purchase a wide range of products.
