Patrons and Ambassadors

duchess1

The Duchess of Rutland (President)

The Duchess says “I can only imagine the feelings of a mother who discovers that her child is not expected to live beyond childhood or early adulthood. As a mother myself I can understand how fragile the health of a child can be and this is one reason why I have agreed to become President of Rainbows. I hope that others throughout the East Midlands will lend their support too.”

Willie Thorne (Patron)

Willie Thorne says: “I am delighted to be a patron of Rainbows and I am always moved to tears when I meet the fantastic kids and their families. It reinforces the message of what great care they get here, but what more they will need as they get older.”

William Roache MBE (Patron)

“Rainbows is such an incredibly worthwhile cause and one I have supported for a number of years. I visited the hospice earlier this year and witnessed at first hand what great work they do there. I am looking forward to doing as much as possible for Rainbows in the years to come.”

Peter Shilton OBE (Patron)

“ I have supported Rainbows at charity events across the East Midlands and I am extremely proud to have been made a Patron of this ever-deserving cause. I would also like to congratulate all at the Hospice on the new Building for the Future therapy wing.”

Esther Rantzen (Patron)

Esther says “Rainbows is the happiest place you can imagine where children get the best care that is possible. We need your help to give children this care when they need it and to offer the help that is needed to over 18s. Building for the Future will give all the help that is needed for the children and young people who come to Rainbows with extra facilities and opportunities”. Please help us to help the children and young people who need Rainbows!

Gary Lineker (Patron)

Gary says “I gave the ‘Building for the Future’ Appeal my full support. I was proud to be involved in the appeal in 1994 to build Rainbows and I am proud to help Rainbows build for the future now.”

Darren Maddy (Patron)

Darren says “I have been a Patron of Rainbows for some time and for me, it is a very special place full of colour and laughter. I am delighted to have lent my support to Rainbows Building for the Future Appeal which has increased the number of  bedrooms and the number of children the hospice can accommodate. More families are now able to use Rainbows and get the vital support that the hospice provides. Please continue to help Rainbows bring in the £3.8 million required to keep Rainbows in operation each year.”

Dean Richards (Patron)

Dean Richards was proud to support the Rainbows Building for the Future Appeal by becoming an appeal patron. Dean is one of the most successful rugby players and coaches in the English club game having won numerous titles and trophies at Leicester Tigers. To support the Appeal, Dean previously organised an overseas bike ride through the Bolivian Andes on what is known as ‘the most dangerous road in the world’ and has helped raise over £100,000 for the Building for the Future project.

Andy Abraham (Honorary Ambassador)

“ At Rainbows, they are a really warm, friendly, amazing set of people that devote their time to ensuring that children’s lives, however short or long, are enjoyed. The work that Rainbows carries out is incredible; this is an incredibly worthwhile cause.”

Lauren Samuels (Honorary Ambassador)

“ Rainbows has always been a cause that’s close to my heart. I lost a good friend when I was younger, so I can understand the extremely important work the charity undertakes. I will be helping to promote Rainbows when I’m working in the West End and when I come home to visit.”

Ady Dayman (Honorary Ambassador)

“ I think that Rainbows is a fantastic charity and I am honoured to be asked if I would be an ambassador. I have worked very closely with Rainbows and fundraised through my work as a gardening expert on BBC Radio Leicester and East Midlands Today. I recently completed a half marathon for Rainbows and it has inspired me to help to raise as much money as possible for this unique and special charity.”
