Recent research conducted for Business in the Community by Research International* proves that employees actively involved in community investment activities are much more likely to find their work interesting and recommend their company to family and friends. They also found that being involved in community activities helps them to manage people more effectively.
So how can our people get involved?
Volunteering is a great way to support Rainbows. It can take many forms, from team challenges to individuals using their business skills for community projects. Challenging and rewarding, it’s ideal for building on people’s strengths and developing new skills.
Fundraising is a simple, straightforward and fun way to bring people together to support our work. From sponsored waxes to baked bean baths, these kind of fundraising events bring a little laughter to your workplace and are very popular.
Matched giving is a joint donation by staff and company. Employees make an individual donation, either a percentage of their salary or by taking part in a sponsored event or organising their own fundraising event, and your company matches it, pound for pound.
It’s a brilliant way to motivate staff and build team spirit by bringing the company together to help our life-limited children and their families.
Secondment is where your company provides a paid member of staff to work with us for up to six months. The individual gets to broaden their skills while bringing their experience and enthusiasm to Rainbows.
Sporting activities are great ways to get your people active and raise money. From runs to sponsored walks and football matches – the list really is endless.
Challenge events could include running a marathon, trekking in Nepal, or from Land’s End to John O’Groats. Whatever your people are up for!
Special occasions provide a great opportunity for your company and people to support us. So you could make a company donation for an employee’s birthday or wedding for example.
Themed nights are very popular with most workforces. From James Bond to Abba – it’s all about what your people will enjoy the most.
Race days are ideal for bringing your company, people, plus friends and family together.
Dress differently day always goes down well. And it’s fun seeing who goes the whole hog and dresses as Elvis for the day!
