Volunteers are vital to our work. If you can spare any extra time to help Rainbows, then we’d love to welcome you on board.
Volunteering is a great way of meeting new people, gaining valuable work experience and building your skills and confidence. We rely on volunteers to help within the hospice, in the garden and with fundraising. All volunteers are interviewed and references and police checks are taken because of the nature of the work we do.
We’re very flexible about the time that you give. So if you’re over 16 years of age, your first step is to complete a volunteer application form. We’ll then ask you over for an informal chat and we’ll also need to obtain a Criminal Records Bureau clearance. After that, you’ll attend a volunteer induction day.
If your company operates Volunteer Days and gives its staff the opportunities to go off site to help a local charity then why not contact us? We have a number of volunteer jobs throughout the hospice that your company could help us with. It may be painting, gardening or helping out with general duties around the hospice. These jobs are limited and vary from month to month so please contact us to see what is available and we will do our best to accommodate your Corporate Volunteer Day. It would be fantastic if your team could volunteer to help out at one of the fundraising events that we hold throughout the year.
Fundraising volunteers play an important role in supporting the many events that we organise throughout the year. With extensive and varied roles, there is something for everyone and your support is vital in helping us reach new supporters.
You could be a marshal, register participants or give out water at one of our sponsored walks, runs or cycle rides. Our events are normally in the evenings or a weekend, so can fit around a working week.
